Faction status. PDP's national leadership has been subject to extended litigation: the Supreme Court invalidated a November 2025 factional convention (Ibadan) in April 2026 for violating an existing court order, nullifying the leadership it produced and leaving the party's Board of Trustees in an interim role; separately, chairman Iyorchia Ayu was suspended (with Umar Iliya Damagum acting) and former national secretary Samuel Anyanwu's removal was contested at the Supreme Court. This national-level dispute is the broader backdrop to the rival Wike-backed and Turaki-led PDP factions separately claiming the party's 2027 presidential nomination (see Sandy Onor and Goodluck Jonathan's candidate records).
